Friends and Family Please Read
There is a tradition in the northern part of China to welcome the arrival of a new baby with a Bai Jia Bei, or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. This is a quilt made of 100 squares of fabric, donated by loving family and friends. Along with the fabric, a wish for the baby is written on a paper or card. As the child grows up, she will realize that she is surrounded by the love of others. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation. This has become a tradition among parents adopting children from China.
We are so excited because Dawn's best friend, Chris, has volunteered to make a 100 Good Wishes Quilt for Mary to always remind her of all the people who care about her. For those who want to show their love to Mary in this way, please mail or give us two 6" X 6" prewashed squares of fabric, and one 2" X 2" square of the same fabric. We are asking for cotton material with small prints (e.g. small hearts, flowers, checks, stripes) and in pastel color(s). Also, send your good wish card. Many people choose to include poems, scriptures, and or quotes with the wishes. Be sure to include your name. One of the squares you send will be put into a keepsake book with your "good wish". It's great to contribute more than one fabric print per family, just make sure that each person in the family contributes their own personal "good wish". If you are sending more than one print of fabric, it would be helpful if you pin the name of the person in your family that it is from to the cloth.
A neat idea:
Fabrics can come from old cotton shirts that are pastel colors. For instance, we think it would be meaningful for Mary to have a print on here quilt from one of her cousins that came from that cousin's old shirts.

The quilt will go in Mary's room. These are the colors in her room.
